Internal monologues are fun because you can say what you want and no one can tell how dramatic you're being. Such as,"I have moved into this awful place because I am so poor and have no job, oh dear." And you can try stuff that doesn't work like,"The skyline was like shoeboxes, and the people were shoes, lots of shoes."
